Highland Sleep Disorders Center
Sleep Medicine comprises the diagnosis and management of all sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, various types of insomnia, sleep parasomnias (unusual behavior during sleep), and circadian rhythm disorders. Sleep Medicine is a rapidly growing field, with increasing awareness of the important health-damaging effects of many chronic sleep disorders. It is recognized as a distinct medical subspecialty, with a board-certification process similar to other medical specialties.
The Highland Sleep Disorders Center makes full use of Highland Clinic's famous multi-specialty approach to help design an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Dr. Scaltsas has a thorough understanding of the multiple approaches used to treat various sleep disorders, and believes there is no "one size fits all" strategy.
Who needs a Sleep Medicine doctor?

Do you have chronic difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep?
Do you need to take medication every night in order to fall asleep or stay asleep?
Do you snore heavily?
Has someone told you that you stop breathing while you sleep?
