Interventional Pain Medicine
Physicians
Interventional Pain Medicine specializes in the management of patients with chronic pain. This specialty of medicine utilizes therapeutic procedures as diagnostic tools to assess the cause of a patient's chronic pain and as a basis upon which to recommend treatment.
Therapeutic procedures require the injection of a pain relief medication, such as an anesthetic or steroid, into the area of concern. If the injected medication provides pain relief, the physician gains insight into the origin of the patient's pain.
We offer the following therapeutic injections:
- Facet Joint Injections
- Selective Nerve Root Blocks
- Epidural Steriod Injections
- Myelography
- Arthrography
- MRI arthrography
- Discography
- Trigger Point Injections
- Vertebroplasty Injections
Fluroscopy (x-ray images that appear on a television-like monitor) is used in some procedures to guide the placement of the needle that delivers the pain medication or contrast material to the area of concern. The contrast material verifies accurate placement of the needle while the medication attempts to provide pain relief.
