Endocrinology is the specialty of medicine concerned with the endocrine glands in the human body, and the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine system disorders.

The endocrine glands of the body include the pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, ovaries and testes, adrenals, pineal and thymus gland. Disorders of the endocrine system involve either underproduction or overproduction of the body's hormones.

Examples of common endocrine disorders are diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and cholesterol problems.
